Not Just A Film #5 Yoru No Pikunikku (Night Time Picnic)

Walking together… that’s all it is, but how did it become so special?” – Sakaki Anna

Takako Kouda and Nishiwaki Toru are classmate in junior and senior high school, but both of them never had conversations at all, otherwise avoid each other. ‘Is there any crush between them?’ thought their friends. They both never told anyone, but honestly there’s something they really want to talk to, to tell and clarify each other.

There is Walking Festival in Northern High School, 24, an every years event of 80 km round-trip walking which begin and end within 24 hours. In each 20 km, there is rest times, the third ones of 20 km are group walk, and the last 20 km is free walk (running). So like Anna ever told to Takako when they were still walked together last year, “Walking together… that’s all it is, but how did it become so special?”

This is the last year for Takako and Nishiwaki. They need to talk each other before they regret it. And the running phase was their last chance. So what ‘is about’ they need to talk to?

This is a simple film actually, but I love it, may be because the settings. This film is about friendship, journey, the last chance, and night. I love the times when it comes to the night, the time when I feel more comfort than the daylight. And ya, for me it is not just a film🙂
